When -- oh, when -- will I stop knocking things over? Pregnancy has made me so clumsy lately. This morning I knocked over the basin of water. Yesterday, when I took the bread out of the oven I dropped it on the floor. I keep telling myself that I don't have much longer. Sooner or later this baby has to come!

Phinehas finally finished the cradle last night. My husband is many wonderful things, but a wonderful carpenter he is not. I will have to take care to lay the baby in a certain direction or all the blood will rush to the poor dear's head! But I was proud of him for finishing, nevertheless. There aren't many things that can take Phinehas away from his studying, but I know he was excited to do something for the baby. I don't know if I can even say that took him away from his studies, because he kept thinking of all the scriptures he was going to teach the baby and quoting them while he worked.

Next week is Passover, and I can't help but think that when next year's Passover comes, we will have a child to celebrate with us. And I laugh, because although the baby won't be able to ask, "What does this ceremony mean to you?" I know that Phinehas will tell the child anyway, "It is the Passover sacrifice to the Lord, who passed over the houses of the Israelites in Egypt and spared our homes when He struck down the Egyptians." Phinehas will definitely be one who talks about God's commandments to our children "when he sits at home and when he walks along the road, when he lies down and when he gets up." Our children won't be able to escape it! But surely this is one of the reasons my parents arranged marriage to him, and despite all his late nights I really am proud to be married to a man who loves God so much. If only he could keep track of his tablet . . .
